Cyclotron Technician/Engineer – Daily Operations & GMP Lab Equipment

About the role

Minerva Imaging is looking for a hands-on cyclotron technician/engineer to secure stable day-to-day operations of our PETtrace 800 cyclotron and to perform service/maintenance on associated equipment in our GMP radiochemistry laboratory. You will be a key player in a high-priority production environment where uptime, safety, and quality are critical, and you will be working closely with Radiochemistry, the GMP Production team, and QA. The position is part of an on-call/call-out scheme and can require availability outside normal working hours for urgent incidents.

Your responsibilities

  • Daily operation and monitoring of the cyclotron, target systems, vacuum, cooling, RF, and high-voltage supplies – including start-up, beam tuning, status checks, and logbook entries.
  • Preventive maintenance (PM) and rapid troubleshooting on mechanics, electrical systems, control systems and instrumentation – including participation in the rotating on-call/call-out scheme.
  • Maintenance and quality control of advanced synthesis and QC equipment in the GMP radiochemistry laboratory, including e.g.: hot cells and accessories, dose calibrators, HPLC/radio-HPLC, GC, radio-TLC scanners, gamma spectrometers, balances/pH meters, gas/vacuum panels, chillers/compressors/UPS.
  • Target handling, target changeovers and service including repair and replacement of wear parts.
  • Development, construction, procurement, and adaptation of new equipment and tools for the laboratories – in close dialogue with users and vendors.
  • Documentation and quality activities: SOPs, IQ/OQ/PQ, deviations, RCAs/CAPA, change control, and calibration/service reports in compliance with GxP requirements.
  • Instruction and training of personnel in operation/maintenance; a significant portion of documentation and communication is in English.
  • Radiation protection and safety in collaboration with RPO.
  • Spare parts and critical stock management, vendor contact, and planning of service windows in coordination with the production team.

Your profile

We understand that specific cyclotron experience can be rare. If you have the right hands-on mindset, we’ll provide the training you need. Our focus is on the following:

  • Strong in mechanics and electrical/automation: able to use a multimeter/oscilloscope, read electrical schematics and P&IDs, and understand interlocks and PID control.
  • Familiar with one or more of: high vacuum (turbo/scroll pumps), RF systems, high voltage, cooling water systems, compressors/chillers, UPS.
  • Thrive in an operations environment with fast diagnostics, structured work, and safe behavior.
  • Willing to join the on-call/call-out scheme and occasionally work outside normal hours.
  • Solid written and spoken English skills; Danish is an advantage.
  • Educational background (preferred): Physicist, Automation technician, industrial electrician, electromechanic, mechatronics technologist, mechanical technician – or BSc/MSc engineer (electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, process).

Nice-to-have

  • Proven hands-on experience operating/maintaining critical technical facilities (e.g., pharma/process, energy, marine, data center, or hospital engineering).
  • Experience with basic data logging/trend analysis.
  • Experience with cyclotrons, hot cells, or targetry (any vendor).
  • Experience in a GxP environment, change control, deviations, and CAPA.
  • Formal radiation protection training (can also be obtained with us).

Who you are

  • Calm, safety-minded, and solution-oriented under time pressure.
  • Systematic and detail-oriented in documentation.
  • A team player who communicates clearly with technicians, chemists, and QA.
  • Self-driven and self-motivated – you take ownership of complex systems.
  • Curious and eager to learn.

Working hours & on-call

Day shift with early starts on production days. Planned maintenance windows may fall in evenings/weekends. On-call/call-out for alarms and urgent incidents (compensation per agreement).
